Cultivate your inner connection.
At this point in my life, 16 years since I started my yoga journey.. The greatest gift that I have received through the practice is my connection with myself.. the beautiful practice of asana draws you into its magical flow; offering you comfort, release, insight, understanding, Offering you the greatest relationship of all.. The one you cultivate with yourself💕.as a child and a young adult I was probably more disconnected from myself than most…And this only left me restless and searching. But the practice of yoga; with all its different elements of tapas, swadhyaya, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dhyana…bit by bit..drop by drop..takes you inward; connects you to your own innate wisdom, your intuition, your guidance system, your strength. While I have nothing against teachers and guru’s..I believe it may be necessary even to open your mind and set you on the path..but at some point it is necessary to shift our reliance from them, release our dependency on them and cultivate our own inner connection. Because otherwise we could spend lifetime after lifetime relying on other people and their value systems, their perceptions, their interpretations… Our own thinking, our intellect, our judgement, everything gets hijacked in the name of religion or some teacher! And the more blind faith we have, the more we give up our sovergnity to think, to feel, to act, to question..The greatest tragedy being that we never get to know ourselves; what moves us, what inspires us, what are our values, what do we stand for, what will we defend, what will we let-go..we remain disconnected from our inner selves never really recognizing the urgings of our soul, never living an authentic life..leaving us lost, disconnected and searching for meaning and purpose.
